The time has finally come to sail my sailboat L’Attitude north to bring it home.
Since October, I’ve been splitting time in Orange Beach Alabama, my home for the last 2 years & Sarasota Florida, the location of the boat I bought back in the fall.
My long-time sailing mentor, Mark, and another friend who lives at my marina, Randy, are loading up the car tomorrow morning & driving to Sarasota. From there we’ll spend a day or so doing some chores and then we’ll begin the trip north.
Thankfully, we don’t have an exact schedule we have to follow or a specific date we have to be back in OB. When you’re sailing, trying to adhere to a schedule will get you in trouble. You need to be flexible enough to wait for good weather windows, deal with equipment issues, etc.
The tentative plan is to leave Sarasota, spend a night or two in Clearwater, and then head straight across to Pensacola. If all goes as planned, we’ll be back in OB sometime around next weekend. Unless we make a wrong turn and end up in the Keys, that is.
Keep posted for more updates.
