If I told you that you could have a team of scientists analyze your engine and tell you how healthy it is–all for less than $30–would you do it?

Of course.

Well, that’s exactly what I’ve done for the past few months, and I’ve been extremely pleased with the results.

Blackstone Labs is this awesome company based in Indiana who wants samples of your oil. They’ll send you a free collection container and everything. All you do is put a few ounces of oil in their little canister, throw some postage on it, and put it in the mail.

In a few days, they’ll email you the oil sample results and tell you in plain english what it means. I’ve done it for the last 2 oil changes, and I’m going to try and do it as regularly as I can.

They take all kinds of oil from all kinds of engines. I’ve only sent oil from my main diesel, although I’ve been meaning to have my generator’s analyzed too. Probably should get on that.
